The highly acclaimed
Dirty Martini Quartet, headed by saxophonist Jeff Rupert, will
perform from 2 PM at the Sept. 14 SCJS meeting in the Cocoa Beach
Country Club. The musicians include Chuck Archard on bass, Keith
Wilson on drums and Chris Rottmayer on piano.
Rupert heads the jazz studies program at the University of
Central Florida and is well known for his work with Dirty Martini
and other Florida jazz groups. He has been the featured saxophone
soloist on recordings with Dirty Martini and with such jazz
luminaries as Sam Rivers, Maynard Ferguson, Diane Schuur, Mel Torme,
Ernestine Anderson and Benny Carter. His tour schedule has
included performances in Europe, Scandanavia, Japan, the Middle
East, South America, Australia and New Zealand. He was a standout
performer at the 2006 Cocoa Beach Jazzfest.
Tickets for the Sept. 14 concert are $7 for SCJS members and
their guests and $10 for nonmembers. Students are free.
