JB Scott's Swingin' Allstars is a celebrated jazz band from Florida,
one of several groups put together by trumpeter JB Scott & vocalist Lisa
Kelly. Scott,
a well-known trumpet player, learned a lot about the Louis Armstrong
style of playing and singing while in New Orleans for three years as
leader of the renowned Dukes of Dixieland. He has enjoyed international
travels and exposure on TV and has done a number of CDs and videos. He
has worked for several theme parks in Orlando and with Latin groups in
Miami.
Vocalist Lisa Kelly, an accomplished scat singer who hits all of
Ella's notes, has been a featured vocalist with the Larry Elgart
Orchestra, the St. John's River City Band and others. She is a 5-time DownBeat
Magazine award winner, has performed at the Kennedy Center and the
Vienna State Opera House, and on many CD recordings and TV commercials. The other Swingin' Allstars include guitarist/banjo player Ken Calhoun, legendary trombonist Dave Steinmeyer, clarinetist Jim Snyder, bassist Rick Ravelo, and percussionist Steve Salo.
The band will be introduced by jazz broadcaster Jack Simpson, who is one
of its biggest fans. “What a great idea for this wonderful group to be
doing a tribute to Satchmo and Ella,” he said. “This is going to be an
unforgettable afternoon of jazz.”
The Courtyard by Marriott is on A1A about a half mile south of Ron Jon’s
in Cocoa Beach. It is the same hotel used for last year’s annual
benefit. For Googlers and navigators, the physical address is 3435 N.
Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach, FL.
